The New Year is fast approaching and I think most of us will be glad to see the back of 2016. Let's be honest this year has had some absolute stinker moments but in spite of all these horrible things let's not be quick to write off the good things and even the great things that have happened in our lives this year. Every year I seem to make resolutions and then by the end of January I seem to have forgetten about them or moved completely off track. However this year I am determined to be different, no longer have I decided to set goals and resolutions that quite frankly are a little half hearted - this year I have chosen resolutions that mean something to me and will make a great difference in my life. 1. No longer caring about what people think and doing what makes me happy!
It seems that I am the type of person who is easily influenced, especially by negative people who just want to bring you down. 2016 saw me drop in confidence and become a little bit scared to fully be myself. But 2017 is going to be very different; no longer am I going to allow people to influence my decisions, I am determined to be more myself; where more of what I like and overall, if it makes me happy then I'm going to do it! 2. Believe in myself I think most people can agree with me when I tell you that sometimes University is no picnic and when you try balance that with your social life and work, things seem to get pretty stressful. I've had moments where I feel inferior to people on my course because they seem to be doing better than me or seem to have their lives in full order. But 2017 is the year where I am going to to be more positive and believe in myself. 3. Focus on a healthy lifestyle Finally, this year I have seen how much my lifestyle probably needs changing. I definitely could afford to eat a little better and exercise a little more. But rather than putting the pressure of a full-on workout on my plate everyday, this year I'm going to take little steps such as rather than driving to the shops, maybe try walking a little more or instead of just settling down to a movie at nighttime go for a swim. I am determined for 2017 to be a great year and a year that I'm proud of! I would love to know what some of your resolutions are for 2017, be sure to let me know in the comments! And all that's left to say is: Happy New Year!

As Slade would say: 'IT'S CHRISTMASSSSSS!'. Well Christmas eve anyway, but it's Christmas tomorrow and despite working in retail, nothing is going to dampen my Christmas spirit! As you get older it seems that Christmas changes, traditions change and you can't do everything you wanted to. I wish I could go to Christingle tonight, nothing quite beats wrapping up nice and warm and singing carols. But that doesn't mean my Christmas Eve won't be great. Once I get home; I'm popping my pj's on, chowing down on some Chinese food and watching Elf with the people I love. So in preparation for one of my favourite days of the year; and to help get you into the Christmas spirit (if you still aren't feeling it!) - I'm posting all the inspiration you'll need to get ready for Christmas! (Please note: None of these photo's are my own, all credit goes to respective owners). I hope you all have an amazing Christmas!
With the end of the year fast approaching; I've found myself looking back on the year of 2016. Well, it has been quite a stinker hasn't it. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about and I definitely don't need to go into detail. But instead of focusing on the negatives, I'm looking to all the things that I've learned and loved this year. Which brings me nicely along to this post all about my beauty favourites this year. This year I've re-discovered old beauty loves as well as finding brand new ones that I can't stop obsessing over! It's been super hard to pick put my favourites and then narrow them down so here is just a selection of my favourites this year! Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser I am literally obsessed with this stuff. I'm pretty skeptical when it comes to skin care because every beauty counter seems to tell you - 'YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE THIS!'. Then in the end, it actually does practically nothing for your skin. But when it comes to the Liz Earle cleanser I really don't have a bad word to say about it. This is literally a dream for my skin; so if you want to know more about it - read my review here. Nails Inc Cat Nap Mask I've been loving tissue masks lately, and I'm absolutely obsessed with the Garnier one. But this one is amazing; it only takes 15 minutes and my face automatically looks 10 times better and more awake than it was before. Plus who doesn't want to look like a cat for 15 minutes! NYX Illuminator in Sunbeam I love nothing more than having glowy skin lately, so it helps that NYX have created quite possibly the best highlighter possible. This highligher is a pink-y sheer colour and creates a gorgeous glow. The liquid texture makes it super easy to apply and work with. Kylie Lip Kit in Dolce K This has been my go-to lipstick this year. I absolutely adore the colour - it literally looks good with every make up look and every season. The formula that Kylie has created is amazing as my lips don't ever feel dried up when I use it. It's safe to say that I'll definitely be making another purchase of Dolce K in 2017. If you want to know more about my thoughts then you can read my review here. Urban Decay Naked3 Palette Arguably the best Naked Palette ever (well, in my eyes it definitely is!) The pink tones in this palette are perfect to create an everyday eye. The mix of matte, satin and metallics makes it perfect for creating multiple make up looks. Among by personal favourites are 'Dust' (a metallic pale pink with glitter) and 'Liar' (a metallic mauve shimmer). I cannot wait to discover even more beauty products in 2017, but I'd love to hear what some of your favourite beauty products are this year?
It's nearly the big day. Christmas is almost upon us! Seriously, I feel like a kid in a candy shop right now. With only less than a week to go until Christmas, I must not be the only one running round like crazy trying to get my last minute gifts and let me tell you working in retail at Christmas is probably one of the most stressful things ever. But I am determined not to be in a grump in the lead up to one of my favourite days of the year; so I'm putting together a little guide on things to do before Christmas to stop you from having a meltdown in the middle of town on quite possibly the busiest week of the year. 1. Constantly play every Christmas song ever made.
With the likes of Wizzard, Slade and Wham being constantly played on the radio (and at work) its sure enough going to put you in the best mood for Christmas. Let's face it these are some of the best songs ever made. 2. Watch your favourite Christmas movies over and over. And over, and over, and over. It feels like it's absolutely impossible to not watch a Christmas film every night before I go to bed in the month of December. So in the lead up till Christmas I'm kicking it up a gear and it's going to be non-stop Christmas films in my house. 3. Go for a festive drink. Whether it be a festive 'Gingerbread Latte' or something more on the alcohol side. There's nothing better than a festive themed drink to get you into the Christmas spirit. 4. Go Ice Skating. Whether you are an ice skating queen or whether you are constantly wobbling like a deer just learning to walk. Guarnateed that the feeling of wrapping up in with a scarf and gloves, skating on a snow covered ice rink with twinkling Christmas lights is going to get you into the Christmas spirit. Whatever you decide to do on the run up to Christmas; make sure you have fun and spend as much time as possible with your loved ones! I'd love to know what are some of your traditions to do before Christmas? In the run up to Christmas, life is stressful and quite honestly taking a little bit of time for myself is positively unheard of right now. Whether it be working my part-time job to earn money to travel and take all the opportunities I want to, or whether it be running around in the great crowds of town desperately trying to get last minute Christmas presents; it seems that it's difficult to step back and take a minute to reflect. So as the end of the year approaches, I'm thinking back on every opportunity I get given, every single second that I've spent with loved ones and appreciating every little smile I've given to someone. Now, I'm not really one of those 'New Year, New me' people - I'm more of a 'Things I want to achieve this year' girl. And while we are waiting for the wonderful Christmas day of 2016 to arrive; I've found myself reflecting before it even gets to thinking about New Year. So in this blog post; I'm explaining why you should all take a chance on yourself for the year of 2017. Opportunites come and go, but which ones should you take and which ones should you pass up. This past year, I've found myself passing up more opportunities than I was taking - maybe it was down to a confidence thing, maybe it was down to a time-management thing or maybe it was just down to me just not thinking I'm good enough. Whatever it was, I am now changing my perspective on this and not only taking opportunites but creating opportunities for myself. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF I'm almost positive that everyone has their moments where they don't feel comfortable or confident with themselves. For me, this all changed when my lovely friend Amy (go read her blog: sunkissedredlips.com) invited me down for an opportunity for a day of modelling. Initially, I thought absolutely 'noooooo way' - I had no confidence and let's face it I'm totally awkward. However after evaluating the opportunity I found myself saying yes. From that day on I've never looked back. Now I may not be the most confident person still but now I am way more open than I ever have been. DON'T LET OTHERS HOLD YOU BACK Everyone should be doing what they love; so why should you care if that girl you used to know sniggers at you, or that 'friend' makes a snide comment. Recently I was presented with an opportunity to enter the field of work that I want to do once I finish University; however it overlapped with my studies. I was met with a choice of taking on a whole lot of work with this placement while trying to catch up on the university work that I was going to miss or I could just carry on with University and not take on a fantastic opporturnity. Safe to say, that after writing that sentence - I've chosen the right thing to do. Although I'm creating more work for myself, I really can't turn down one of the greatest opportunities that I've ever been presented with. While I'll have work to catch up on, the fact that I'll be in the industry has made me even more determined to work harder than ever to make sure that I impress everyone (including tutors, collegues and most importantly my family). So make sure that when 2017 arrives, you take on those opportunities you'd normally pass up and have the confidence to believe in yourself. Photo Cred: Baraboux and Sarah Cresswell
