This post is in collaboration with Ideal of Sweden. The changing of seasons is one of my absolute favourite things. I just love the changing weather, the changing clothes and don't get me started on all the upcoming activities throughout Autumn and Winter. Pumpkin picking, halloween, fireworks night and Christmas make me love these seasons more than anything but sometimes it is definitely a little bit harder to get up. The colder mornings definitely make it a little bit more difficult to get up and out of bed (even with the heating on!) and get motivated to get the most out of my day. Sometimes even staying in bed just 5 minutes longer can lead me to a day of procrastination. Since I'm currently in my final year of uni and the stress is quickly piling on top of me; there is definitely days when I just want to curl up in a blanket with a cup of tea instead of dragging myself over to uni to sit in either a freezing cold or sweltering lecture theatre. But every lecture really counts this year as I want to do the absolute best that I can do! This is why I've come up with these little things to do everyday that will help me to embrace the colder mornings and get the absolute most out of the day! Set a "to do" list Post it notes have become my best friend lately since I've started researching for my dissertation, I often get random thoughts here and there which is when I will grab a post it note and jot it down. Since this was working really well for me, the past few weeks I've been trialling out writing a "to do" list on my post it notes and sticking it on my desk so it is one of the first things I see when I wake up. This has really helped me to embrace the colder mornings as I look at everything I need to do and immediately feel motivated to tick as many things off my list as possible meaning I get out of bed a lot quicker than I would if I was just thinking of all the things I need to do rather than seeing them! Stay away from social media until you're out of bed I think we are all definitely guilty of this, you click on one social media channel when you wake up, click onto another then click back to the first one and before you know it - it is 45 minutes later! Obviously this is a lot harder said than done, but most weekdays I try to practice this (it's really helpful when my bf is up for work early as this stops me checking any social media as I go downstairs to say goodbye to him). The trick is to ignore the social media messages that have popped up overnight, look at the time, get up and out of bed (go clean your teeth, or go get breakfast or do one thing productive) then once you are completely away from the cosy igloo that is your bed then you can check your social media channels - but try not to go back into the habit of checking them for 45 minutes. Wake up with a nice hot drink I know that it definitely difficult trying to get out of bed and into the colder climate (even when you have heating on) but waking up with a hot drink can definitely make it 10x better. So yes- you do have to get actually out of bed to make your drink unless you have a kettle in your room or something but guaranteed once you're sipping on that hot drink you're going to feel warmer and more awake! Whether it is a cup of tea, coffee or hot water with lemon this is one way I've definitely combated those early cold mornings. Wake up with music Personally I don't like to wake up to an alarm, especially one with music as I find that I then begin to hate the song but as I get up and get ready for the day I like to put a little bit of music on (something both calming and motivating at the same time!). I think this stemmed from when we were younger, as we got up in the morning mum used to always put the radio on for us to listen to so now my whole family continues to listen to music as we get up (unless other people are fast asleep of course). However when I do, do this I find that I feel ready for the day and I'm so engrossed with singing along that I completely forget how cold it actually is outside of bed! Pick out your comfiest and cosiest clothes Finally, this is my tip for the coldest and earliest of mornings that you have. Last year I used to get up at 5.30 to get to uni on time so I'd always pick out my cosiest jumpers and coats and wrap up for my trip to uni! Now when I get out of bed to get dressed I automatically pick out the thing that is going to keep me the warmest, even if that means that I wear bed socks for the drive to uni. My favourite go to is an oversized jumper, cosy socks and a checkered scarf!
Personally I know can't wait for the winter season to be upon us as it's a chance to cuddle up in the cosiest clothes that I own!! But I'd love to know if there is any tips you have for being productive during the colder months?

This post is in collaboration with Influenster UK and Rimmel. Halloween is definitely one of my favourite things about this time of year - not only does it mean Christmas (my favourite time ever) is soon to be upon us but I love the spooky decorations, costumes and of course all the pumpkin spice that you can ever want! I, myself am actually pretty scared by clowns; last year when the whole killer clown thing started I was definitely freaked out and this year with the release of IT has seen a whole load more clowns appear. Since halloween is supposed to be scary night and I'm sure this year there will probably be a whole lot more people dressed up as clowns - I'm trying to get over my fear by actually becoming one myself. I've seen some absolutely amazing tutorials from Youtubers and bloggers for clown halloween makeup tutorials so I've attempted one for myself! (Please note, I am definitely not a makeup pro!) For this look I used: Base: Loreal True Match Foundation in "Rose Ivory", Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in "Transparent", Sephora Setting Powder Eyes: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance (read my review here) Shades: Tempera, Burnt Orange, Red Ochre, Realgar and Cyprus Umber for Eyebrows. Next Colour Eyeliner in Black Rimmel Wonderfully Real Mascara* Lips: Kylie Cosmetics Leo Lipliner Rimmel Oh my gloss! in Desire and Rita's Black* (used for nose, neck and hands as well!) First start on your base, blending your foundation and concealer as you would normally. To set the foundation use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder. Next either using face paint or a translucent white setting powder white out the face to create an almost ghostly complexion. This should create the base for your clown look. For the eyes, use Tempera as the base and then blend Burnt orange into the crease. When happy with the blend you have created brush red ochre into the outer corner and crease. Finally blend in realgar to finish the eye look. To create an extra dramatic and hollowed out look blend the same colours underneath your eyes. For the eyebrows use an angled brush and the shade Cyprus Umber to create a defined brow. To finish the eye look, using the eyeliner draw a line from mid-forehead to mid cheek (obviously avoiding your eyeball aha!). Then draw a triangle above and below the eyebrow to colour in, once done dot underneath the cheek line! For the lips; outline your lips with a red lip liner (I chose Kylie Cosmetics Leo Lip liner), next colour them in with Rimmel Oh my Gloss in the colour Desire. Next create the blood smile with the lip gloss (I used lip gloss instead of face paint as it kept a wet look!) to create shadows also use Rimmel Oh my Gloss in the colour Rita's black. To create the tip on the nose use the Rimmel Oh my Gloss in Desire. Finally to look as scary as you want use the lip gloss to create a bloody neck and hands (Disclaimer: you will need a lot of makeup remove to get it off your hands just as you would for Face paint). Et Voila: a killer clown look! I'm super excited for halloween and have some great ideas for more halloween looks. What are you planning on dressing up as this halloween?!
This Summer saw the 2 year anniversary of my blog; I started my blog because I wanted to grow my confidence, share things with the world and get my voice out there. As time has gone on and on, my blogging style has evolved and Haute on my Heels has become something that I'm actually really proud off. However these past two months (possibly even three) I've been feeling a little bit lost with the direction that I am going with my blog. The blogging world has grown more and more over the past year and we should definitely celebrate that but with that the downside is that there is even more people to compare yourself to. Comparison really is the thief of joy, lately I've felt that most of the content I've been producing hasn't been up to the standard that I put myself to or the content I am proud with hasn't really resinated with anyone. In all honestly I really am starting to feel a little bit lost within this world but I'm determined to find myself and my blogs voice again! Over the past month I've been trying to evaluate how I can back on track and these are the little things that I've been doing to try and get myself back on track. Take a break I'll admit I got so frustrated that I hadn't posted in a while but then I realised that taking a break may be really good for both my mental wellbeing but also my blog content. Taking a break has meant that I took a step back, took some time for myself and gained some fresh perspective on the content that I want to create. Whether it is a few hours, a day, a week or a month - taking a break will do wonders for those ideas you may be lacking. Read other blogs Yes, we are all bloggers, but how many of us regularly read other peoples blog content?! In the times where I've sat down at my computer with complete bloggers block, I instead turned to other peoples blogs - not to copy them but instead get inspiration. Inspiration for content but also inspiration to re-gain the passion that I felt for blogging a few months ago. Believe in yourself The most important thing about blogging is believing in yourself, believing that what you create is great and that you are doing this because you love to do it! Yes take a break and yes read other people's blogs but don't compare; when you get the urge to write: do it! Make sure that whatever you write, you create something that you yourself would want to read and let your wonderful personality shine on through! Ideas are slowly coming back to me and I'm continuing to evaluate and critique the content that I post on here, I'd love to know what tips you have for when you have bloggers block?
Exactly how it is October already is beyond me, anyway it is and with that means I am finally back at university. After the longest summer ever; I really under-estimated exactly how much work would be involved in third year and after getting slightly scared from our project briefing and wanting to go hide under my duvet for the next few months I decided it was time that I truly got my bum back into blogging as it is not only one thing I love but also a really great distraction from how anxious I'm feeling going into this year. Since it is the start of the month; I thought I'd jump straight back in with a monthly favourites blog post. I'll admit the products in this post are not new to me at all but rather products that I once loved and used constantly and I'm learning to appreciate all over again. #1 Kylie Cosmetics Lipkit in "Love Bite" Okay, so if you read my blog at all you'll all know exactly how much I love these lip kits - and yes I do have pretty much any colour. I found my love for "Love bite" all over again after I was searching my makeup drawers for the perfect autumnal lip colour. Love bite has such gorgeous purple/pink tones that it has acted as a great transitional colour before I convert back into the deepest of lip colours. #2 Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask I'll be honest I was searching my drawer for my favourite moisturiser when I came across this mask that I had forgotten I ever had. I used to use these once a week as they were cheap and they made my skin look fab. Anyway after I found it again, I've been obsessed! Since Autumn is here and Winter is coming I thought now is the best time to make some changes to my skincare routine and thank god I realised my love for these again - goodbye dry skin, hello hydrated plump skin. #3 Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy Kyshadow Everyone knows I love my Anastasia Beverly Hills Palette (read my review here) it has the most gorgeous red/pink tones in it however I was playing around with this Kyshadow palette the other day and I forgot how gorgeous and pigmented these shades were. The Burgundy palette is great for creating rich, warm eyeshadow looks that I'll be rocking all Autumn! #4 Batiste Texture Me Texturising Spray Texturising spray is something that I've recently fallen in love with. Since my hair is quite dull and flat; texturising spray is perfect for adding some body and volume and creating the "I got up like this" hair look we try so hard to get. I'll admit this is the first texturising spray I've used but so far I've been loving using it as it creates the texture that I want all day long and also it doesn't make your hair sticky at all! I know these beauty favourites are short and sweet but trust me when I say I've relied on these products throughout September! I'd love to know what products you are currently loving and if you have any recommendations for texturising spray definitely let me know!
