New Year, New Skincare! It may be the end of January but give a girl a chance I've had to have adequate time to try this skincare. Dermalogica is one of those brands that I've always wanted to try but never have gotten round to actually trying; even when I had my skin mapped by them at a beauty roadshow I was yet to try them. So when I got sent these complimentary from Influenster I was very happy. Dermalogica is one of the most respected brands worldwide by beauty professionals as it isn't just about beauty it's about skin health and providing the best for your skin. The ingredients in their products are specially formulated and chosen to give you optimum skin health. All the products within this post have no artificial colours or fragrances as well as being either vegan or vegetarian and cruelty free; so I'm going to share with you my thoughts on these skincare products. This post is in collaboration with Influenster and Dermalogica. STEP ONE (AND A HALF) : cLEANSE.To begin, I'm going to talk about the Special Cleansing Gel and the PreCleanse Balm (which is the half step). The precleanse balm is a balm to oil emulsifier. So basically it changes consistency to then help melt away makeup and impurities as part of a double cleanse routine. The smooth formula is applied onto dry skin either with fingers or the cleansing mitt to smooth and nourish the skin. It comes in to different sizes, the smaller retails at £8 and comes with the small cleansing mitt pictured which is perfect if you're a little unsure and first want to try it out and the larger retails at £44 for 90ml and comes with a bigger cleansing mitt. Personally I am a huge fan of this product as it melts away your makeup so doesn't feel like an extra step in my skincare routine, also whenever I've used this my skin feels 10x cleaner than when I haven't - however if like me you having normal-oily skin and aren't too keen on introducing a balm into your routine there is a precleanse that is designed for oily skin compared to the balm which is designed more for normal to dry skin.. The Special Cleansing gel is the main step and is suitable for all skin types. The soap-free formula has mint and lavender in it to relax and calm the skin without stripping it of all the moisture. I've loved this cleanser and notice that it has made a huge difference to the look and feel of my skin without bringing that tightening feeling that some cleansers can bring. This product comes in three sizes: £10.50 for 50ml, £32 for 250ml and £52.50 for 500ml. This cleanser has now become one of my must have skincare products as I can continue to use it all year round and know my skin will be in good hands. STEP TWO : SUPERFOLIATE.Exfoliation is something that I have never really been great at which isn't ideal when you have acne prone skin - I've always been the lazy girl when it comes to my skincare routine (you know the saying when less is more). Part of that is because as a teenager it always just felt like a chore I couldn't be bothered to do and part of that is because whatever skincare I used on my face, nothing seemed to clear up my face. However know I'm in my 20s I realise the true importance of skincare, however I've had the most difficult time finding an exfoliator that I can get on with. You know, one that will clear your face without making it super red and angry. THEN ALONG CAME THE SUPERFOLIANT. Dermalogica's super exfoliant is an anti-pollution powder with active ingredients that purify and protect the skin. Dermalogica recommend using this every other day if you have sensitive skin, however I've been using it three times a week and that seems to be perfect for me. The powder is made into a paste using water which actives the ingredients to clear out impurities, and resurface skin to create the most smooth skin that is protected against environmental pollutions. Since using this my skin has felt smoother than ever and that's coming from a girl who has acne scarring. This product again comes in two different sizes: £17 for 13g and £55 for 57g. STEP THREE: MOISTURISE.Moisturisers have always been my favourite piece of skincare because they always make your skin feel hydrated and fresh, I think I own about 8 moisturisers currently that I'm working my way through. However, I've never actually found one that I like quite as much as the Dermalogica skin smoothing cream, like I've said before I have acne prone skin so my skin sometimes can feel bumpy and just generally drab. However since using this moisturiser I've found my skin to be the smoothest it has ever been and also more glowing than usual. The skin smoothing cream is great for most skin types and in particular those with combination skin as it soothes and hydrates as well as protecting against pollution. Personally much like the cleanser this has become a permanent member of my skincare routine as it makes my skin feel amazing and also makes me feel more confident with my skin. This also comes in two sizes: £36 for 50ml and £54 for 100ml. I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purpose but they are some of the best skincare products that I am ever used and are definitely going to continue to be permanent fixtures in my skincare routine. Although they aren't your typical drugstore prices I've thought for the past few years that skincare is something to invest in and for a brand that is trusted by beauty and skincare professionals I think the price for these products is pretty good. Dermalogica seem to have a product for everyone and I can't wait to try some more of there products out!

In a few weeks I turn the ripe old age of 22 and then in a few months from that my longtime education love affair will end and I will (fingers crossed) be graduating from university and then I'll be thrown life vest free into the scary place called: the real world. Alongside trying to navigate the frightening world of finding a job, I'll be joined by that £60K student debt I've earned, the overcrowded house-hunting market, and the dreaded feeling of having absolutely no clue how to adult one bit! Being a proud part of the millennial generation I am fully aware of exactly how unprepared for 'adult' life I am and so is everyone else. Technically yes I am an adult but an adult who only just learned to change a lightbulb at the age of 20, an adult who still lives in her parents house and an adult who has no clue about mortgages or how they even work. Great job at preparing for adult life Hannah. |
Ok, so every course is different but every course has its stresses and mine is no different at all. Some days I find myself sat staring at my computer in the middle of the library wondering what the hell I'm doing or writing my literary review to re-read it and realise that it is complete and utter BS. But if you're feeling like me or have experienced similar symptoms then don't worry as there is a way to survive and not drown in your dissertation notes. |
BREATHE. MEDITATE. RELAX.
A calm mind will make things 10x easier with anything uni throws at you. Unexpected two hour lecture turned up on your timetable or deadline fast approaching that you completely forget about? The most important thing is to remain calm and not panic. This is super easy to say but super hard to get under control so if you know something is stressing you out and find something to combat that. Things like 10 minutes meditating or an adult colouring book are really great for helping with this as they only take up a minimal amount of your precious time.
EAT WELL. DRINK WATER. SLEEP PLENTY.
It really is true when they say what you eat and drink really does affect just how productive you are. It's super important that you make sure you grab breakfast and something that is going to be nutritional for you. Chocolate bars are really tempting when working throughout the day as they are really handy and easy to eat but instead I suggest keeping a pot of fruit, an apple or some belvita breakfast biscuits near as these will stop any late afternoon flagging and decrease the need for that unnecessary two hour nap. Also making sure you are drinking plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated is definitely going to help and stop you getting tired and stressed (also if you're a coffee fiend try and cut down or switch to decaf). Basically making sure your lifestyle is healthy and you're getting at least 8 hours of beauty sleep is really key - yes you could stay up till 2am writing that assignment but I can almost guarantee that what you read in the morning isn't going to be half as good as what you'll write when you're wide awake.
be more organised than monica gellar.
My final tip is to be as organised as you possibly can. This definitely comes easier to some people than others but don't worry as you could always take small steps and organisation can be learned. For me, I write a schedule of my week including all my lectures and when I am at work; highlight the most urgent things on your 'to-do' list so that you can prioritise them. I find that my phone or the Amazon Alexa is great for keeping me on time and on schedule so make use of any technology you have. Finally don't forget about good old post-it notes, if something you need to do pops into your head then write it down and you won't get frustrated when you can't remember something you'd thought of earlier.

Whether you are in your final year of uni, first year of a-levels or on the daily grind with blogging or your job - these little tips will hopefully help get you through the day and help to optimise your potential. And if you are feeling a little bit stressed like I currently am, then try and make a little bit of time for you to relax whether that's spending your lunch hour away from your computer or whether it's downsizing your screen time towards the evening - just know that you got this!
