Spring may have Sprung but can someone please tell the weather that?! One minute there is bright sunshine; the next it is absolutely chucking it down with rain - I find myself finding it difficult to pick out an outfit in the morning. Part of me definitely wants to go out in my new Spring clothes minus any sort of coat but then part of me is not ready to brace the bitter chill of the wind and wants to layer all up. Spring is a time to change up your style and wardrobe; dropping all those chunky knits in favour for the light blouses. With changing up my wardrobe; it means a few new items have been added. Jackets are something that I never have enough of; sure I have lots of cosy coats but never enough Spring Jackets - thick enough to keep you warm but not too thick that you look like you just came from the most vigorous workout ever. For me there is a number of different jacket styles that I absolutely love; however there are 3 different styles that I'm favouring right now to transform my Spring Style. #1 The Leather Jacket The leather jacket is a staple that everyone must have in their wardrobe; it practically goes with any item of clothing! Pair of jeans, maxi dress, mini skirt and band tee - throw on a leather jacket and you have yourself a killer outfit. Try mixing up the colours of your jacket like my one here from Marks and Spencer to make your outfit pop. #2 The Blazer You really can't go wrong with the classic blazer; it instantly adds a chic look to any outfit. The blazer is perfect for night and day - in the daytime opt for classic mom jeans, linen shirt, faux fur lined mules and a blazer; whilst for the evening opt for a lace bra let top, tailored trousers and a buttoned up blazer. For me I will always favour a classic black blazer, however try adding to a laid back look with a printed jacket or colourful blazer. #3 The Denim Jacket For so long I wanted a vintage oversized denim jacket and it wasn't until I visited Camden Market that I managed to get one. However the denim jacket is perfect for Spring days as it is such a classic; it can look great with an oversized band tee or with a neutral coloured sweater. For me; I like to style mine with a graphic sweatshirt to give that vintage look.
What are you most looking forward to adding to your Spring wardrobe? Hannah xoxo

Just like any millennial girl - I pretty much spend the majority of the day with my phone close by. This means getting heavily distracted with any form of social media whether it be Pinterest or Twitter or Tumblr or Instagram I can't help but have a cheeky peak at it whenever I get the chance. Instagram has to be my favourite platform of them all; despite the algorithm messing everything up it still holds a special place within my heart. So with all the time I spend scrolling through this social media it means that I get a whole lot of inspiration and have quickly found some favourite accounts that I am constantly keeping up with to help expand my creativity and improve pictures of my own. Today's post is just a little dedication to my favourite instagram accounts that I just had to share with you! Sinead Crowe Sinead's instagram is forever giving me inspiration - the gorgeous outfits and flatlays; along with her instagram stories forever have me double tapping on her pictures. Lydia Tomlinson Lydia's blog is one of my absolute favourites to read and her instagram is one of my favourites as well. Her pictures are absolutely gorgeous and I am constantly being given ootd inspiration by her. Kiara King Kiara's instagram is honestly so gorgeous; she is one of my favourite bloggers and her Australian style is something I always take inspiration from. Also let's talk about the desk flatlays! Lauren Crowe Lauren's instagram is one that I found very recently (thanks for the link Sinead). The outfits and the tan are just everything; I may have gone on to make a few purchases after seeing her instagram. Emma Hill Emma's instagram is serving up some serious fashion looks that I can't help but try emulate in my own way; she seriously gives me so much inspiration, not just on instagram but also as a fashion blogger. Also her instagram stories are fab! These are just a few of my absolute favourite instagram accounts that I never miss a post from! Who are some of your favourite instagrammers?
Also shameless plug, if you want to keep up with Haute on my Heels you can always follow my instagram here. Amongst the pictures is endless flatlays, pretty outfits and some of my favourite beauty products... So yesterday marked the first day of Spring. Finally. Yet it was a rainy one...Spring is always nice as it means it's time for a Spring clean and a tidy up of everything including my wardrobe, makeup collection and room. My Spring style update is currently in full swing as I add new pieces each day and clean out old forgotten pieces. But my Spring makeup routine has been prepped for quite some time now and I've been changing it up throughout the past month in order to prep myself for my Spring update. Whilst I hoard many beauty products and I change them up most days - I've now got a few Spring staples in my makeup bag that I just can't help but love this month. THE PRIMER For me, Primer is a necessity! I have combination skin so the mixture of my oily skin, dry skin and warmer weather can be a disaster for my makeup. The Rimmel London Lasting Finish primer is my go-to right now as it's 'Pore Minimising' meaning makeup doesn't sink into my skin, promise '8 Hour wear' for your makeup; this means my makeup can last most of the day without as touch up and since I have early morning starts - this is really necessary. Other benefits of this Primer are that it perfects the look of skin and evens out the skin tone - perfect for creating your Spring base. THE FOUNDATION Guilty - I change foundations pretty much every month thanks to my ever changing skin. However my current love is the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 100, this foundation is perfect for those with oily skin as there is a Matte finish to it meaning it won't slip throughout the day like a satin foundation would. However the thing I really love about this foundation is that although it is matte finish; it is super easy to create a glow to your skin - to achieve this I use my primer and pop a Skin Illuminating Cream underneath my foundation - et voila - a dewy glow that doesn't slip throughout the day. THE MASCARA As I girl that is not gifted with the ability or the patience to apply False eyelashes most days; I am in desperate need of a good mascara. Thankfully I've discovered the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara - this is one of my go-to mascaras. It applies effortlessly onto my lashes and clump free; better yet is that this mascara pretty much lasts all day and I never get panda eyes with it. This Spring I am favouring long length lashes that make my eyes truly pop. THE PALETTE I am definitely not one of those girls that has time to really take time to perfect my cut crease every morning. However every once in a while I like to change up my look with a little bit of eyeshadow; so my current go-to palette is the Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy Palette. Although most of these shades are very warm; there are some perfect colours in the palette to create a shaded neutral eye. (P.S If you want to hear a little more about this palette then check out my post here.) THE LIPSTICK As I have mentioned in many previous posts, I am an absolute lipstick hoarder and I've been looking for the perfect Spring colours (read the post here). My current favourite go-to lip is the NYX Lip Lingerie in Embellishment - this colour is my favourite right now as it's the perfect understated pinky nude and the light velvet texture means that my lips feel luxurious all day long. Since I'm wearing this pretty much everyday and it's my go-to; there's a more in depth post all about it right here. I'm so looking forward to fully getting into Spring and stepping out in my new wardrobe and favourite beauty products. What are your current go-to beauty products?
The 9am lecture or work start time is one that none of us really love, even me - a self confessed morning person struggles. Whilst I'm mostly experienced with the 9am lecture (hello 5.30am wake up calls so I can drive all the way there) I have experienced the odd 9am work start time and by the time it gets to 2pm(ish) I seriously start to flag. 2pm is around the time that I start dreaming of my duvet and the nap I could be taking and trust me it takes serious SERIOUS resistance to resist the urge to nap as soon as I get home. Being fairly experienced when it comes to early morning starts there's a few tips and tricks that I follow to help me survive the dreaded 9am (always the worst on the Monday morning). Embrace the PJ trend Every uni goers dream; we all wish we could just roll out of bed and go straight to a lecture. Well with the PJ outfit trend you definitely can now; just maybe put on deodorant and brush your teeth; Gucci-esque loafers in tow and you practically have slippers on COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE Just don't talk to me, unless I've had at least two cups of caffeine in my system - if you aren't a fan of caffeine; I always find a Lemon and Ginger tea gives me heaps of energy whilst also boosting your immune system. Never Clock watch Ever look at your watch and then look half an hour later to find only 5 minutes have past; well if you want to survive a 9am then don't keep glancing at your watch. However definitely do style yourself out with the most elegant of watches because you definitely need to know when it's lunchtime. Sneak a peak at Social Media I don't think I've ever sat in a lecture where no one has looked at their phone once; if you are going to survive the 9am lecture then why not take a sneak peak at your instagram (you could probably find about 7 different outfit and flatlay ideas from one scroll through) - maybe don't do this when your tutor is talking about something important, take advantage of the exercise breaks they give you. P.S Don't do this point at work; unless you have a tea break or you work in social media - definitely do this if that's the case. How do you survive an early morning start?
Just when I think Spring has Sprung; here comes the rain... Good old England! This Spring is an exciting one in the fact that I start my placement for 10 weeks in London; however I'm also a little bit terrified. Constant questions are running through my head - "What if I mess up?", "What if I get stuck on the tube and I'm late?", "What do I wear?!" - the last one has been bothering me quite a bit actually as this is one of the things that could make or break the impression that I make. With this in mind; I've decided that my wardrobe needs a little Spring refresh after a long winter. My wardrobe currently features Chunky knits, endless amounts of boots and blanket scarfs; and while it may not be tropical whether it's time to cut back on these and create a few new looks that'll give me confidence while on placement. In order to achieve my new Spring looks, I'm following these few simple steps: #1 Back to Basics In my opinion there is nothing better than the basics; a neutral coloured bodysuit, a crisp linen shirt and black loafers can all create a base for a killer outfit. These pieces are being added to my wardrobe as they can be worn over and over again in so many different ways. #2 Look at the trends I'm not necessarily one of those people who follows the trends religiously but I will pick things from specific trends and find ways to work them into my wardrobe. The gingham trend is one of my absolute favourites right now; so I'm currently finding a way that this can work with my style. #3 Refresh your bag collection I am a serious hoarder when it comes to handbags, I can never seem to throw them away. So this Spring; I've decided to let go of a few of my overused handbags and grab a few fresh new ones to up my style. My current favourites for bags; the backpack and the cross-body bag. #4 ACCESSORIES Time and time again; I buy accessories - new necklaces, bracelets and earrings and forget to wear them. I have set pieces that I wear everyday, but this Spring I'm going to venture into the layering trend and step up my accessory game.
What steps are you taking to update your Spring Wardrobe? This post is in collaboration with Koko Couture and contains products that were gifted to me; however all views, opinions and words remain my own. |
