I've been thinking for days now how I wanted to lay out this post and I've definitely decided that I could waffle on for ages so a diary layout is where I'm going with this. Okay, so technically I didn't spend the whole 12 hours at London Fashion Week Festival - some of it was spent travelling to there but still...! Anyway so imagine my excitement when my manager at work told me they were sending me to LFW Festival for the day; I've always wanted to go and there is definitely nothing I love more than being surrounded by fashion. 6.45am (7.00am): Arrive at Lincoln train station to be greeted by retail representatives from across Lincoln also attending and a lovely first class carriage all to ourselves from Virgin East Coast. Pictures were taken for local publications both inside and outside the train station (desperately avoid the camera getting an unexpected photo of me. Throughout the train journey, laughs are heard throughout the carriage from the various conversations happening - Costa muffins and pastries are making their way through the train (thank god for the lemon muffin - I was starving). After what felt like forever breakfast is served - I opted for porridge to set me up for the day! 9.00am (ish): Finally arrived at London Kings Cross (and more photos are being taken). We sneak off to Starbucks (and McDonald's) before making our way to the Underground to travel across London to arrive at 180 The Strand Studios. Although we do take a few minutes to appreciate the sunny London skyline and take photos in the gorgeous Embankment Gardens. 10.30am: We patiently wait in line for the doors to open, as the line starts to move we are given LFW Festival wristbands that allow us in and out of the venue. We are practically first in (making me feel like a VIP - even though I most definitely am not!). We explore the venue, basically running towards the GIF booth at the Sunglasses Hut pop up and I am in awe of the flower wall courtesy of Instax (seriously, can I install this into my house for a daily instagram) 12.00pm: Sit on the 2nd row for the Catwalk show - ready for SS17 Trends. So many inspirations from Avenue 32 - Micro Floral, The Shoulder show and Ruffles Reinvented (some of my absolute favourites). The most gorgeous of trends - I practically want all the clothes but my student overdraft does not agree with me. 1.00pm: Trawl around the pop up shops, lusting after the Gucci glasses and YSL bag, loving all the dainty little jewellery. Run into Rosie from Made in Chelsea and wish that I didn't have to eat so I could buy the Vintage Chanel Jacket that I spotted and most definitely did not want to put down. 2.30pm: Make our way through the crowds on Trafalgar Square so we can grab some lunch before making our way back down the Strand to take in one last look of all the fashion. 4.00pm: Quickly grab a pret before running round London to find the Coach for the 4 hour (long) drive back to Lincoln. Arrive back at just after 7pm and instantly want to fall asleep. London Fashion Week Festival provided me with a glimpse into Fashion Week, gave me endless ideas regarding blogging and my own fashion choices. The street style scene in London is some of my absolute favourite so getting to see all these fashion lovers in one place was such a great opportunity. I most definitely can't wait to spend another day at LFW Festival (here's hoping I can go in September!). Did you attend LFW Festival, what were your thoughts of the event?

Fashion Design? Fashion Marketing? Fashion Promotion? Ah the many courses available for us fashion lovers to take on. All too many times I have heard: "You study fashion? What do you do just read Vogue and Shop all day?" or "So you want to be a fashion designer then?". I think I've just about pulled all the muscles I can from rolling my eyes too hard every time these questions or comments come up. No. Not every fashion student wants to be a designer - some of us much prefer the communication side of it. Yes. I do buy Vogue every month and we can certainly use it as a reference for our assignments... And No. I don't shop all day - however I do find myself scrolling through ASOS during those *do this marketing exercise/get a coffee* breaks... While I definitely do not regret choosing my degree there are a few realities that every fashion student is bound to face: #1 You'll dress well UNTIL... We all love fashion, we all have the Vogue Runway app, we all buy something from ASOS at least 3 times a month but after the first week/month depending on personality - you'll realise that uni isn't a runway and most of your course will be turning up in that 5 year old jumper, leggings/jeans and a pair of trainers or their gym kit. #2 MOST of the reading list is..dry To say the least, yes we get to use Vogue as a reference and read all the art magazines - but marketing books can seriously be a snooze-fest at times; even your tutors will admit this. But still we are thankful that most of our books can be read online. #3 Deadlines are the enemy Yeah sure, you thought you were so much luckier than the English students who had January exams but you will have about 3 different deadlines to keep up with (ah yes, this date is the presentation, this date is the report and this date is the group report..). Seriously how do any of us even have a social life... #4 Caffeine is your new BFF 99% of your course are guaranteed to have a coffee throughout your lecture (unless they don't like hot drinks- Emma I'm looking at you) because we honestly can't function through a 3 hour lecture, through hours of writing and the endless presentations without some kind of Caffeine fix. #5 You'll become a master of Pinterest Yep, most projects we do have their very own Pinterest board (secret and public, depending on the type of project) and you will more than likely receive AT LEAST one lecture on what Pinterest is and How to use it* *yes we already knew exactly what it was and how it worked but hey more time for us on social media #6 You'll love your course Yes you will love your course because it's actually what you are interested in - but yes will strongly dislike your course every time someone points out you less than fashionable outfit or asks you if you can design some clothes for them..
(P.S Please take everything I say in this post with a pinch of salt because honestly I love my uni course)
Hi, yes, me - the queen of procrastinating is writing a post about getting the most out of your day... I know strange right. But just try me on this one, okay? Whilst I may be a pro at the art of procrastinating - I do have some days when I feel completely on top of my tasks and day. I mean having to get up at 5.30am to get ready, eat and drive to uni most days does mean that I have more time in my day to complete things, there's a few little changes to my daily routine that I have embraced which means that I get the most out of my day. Now of course I have those days where I throw these rules completely out of the window; and for that I most certainly don't feel guilty because we all need a rest every now and then (read my post on that here). But when I follow these few simple steps I'm guaranteed to get the most out of my day! #1 See the morning I tend to do my best work when I get up early in the morning, as it makes me 10x more motivated and I seem to have achieved a lot by midday. Now I'm not saying you have to get up at the crack of dawn and do everything before 10am - but even on my days off I tend to get up at around 8 - get dressed, eat and then get on with chores, blog writing and uni work. So why not try see the morning; who knows what you might get done! #2 Get dressed I know this may seem weird; like how is getting dressed going to help you get the most out of your day? Well if I stay in my pjs it really doesn't put me in a motivated mood at all; whether you pull on sweats or a pretty skirt you'll feel more likely to get on with your day, than stay in bed and watch Netflix. #3 Get out of bed By this I mean, definitely do not say that you're going to stay in bed and work all day because 90% of the time that is not going to happen! Personally I love to sit at my desk and work away, or sit downstairs in the dining room at the table as it's easier to spread myself out and create mind maps for university. I'll always recommend that if you want to get the most out of your day that you sit somewhere away from your bed, because although your bed may be 10x more comfy, you are also 10x more likely to take a nap or get distracted somehow. #4 Take regular breaks This mainly applies to when I am doing university work as it can get seriously draining and this was my mums advice - but it is spot on! Every so often I take a timed break to give me time away from my work so I can relax a little. Tip - if you keep a timed break; you are less likely to watch "just one more episode" of Friends. So while I still mostly am the queen of procrastination; when it comes down to it I love getting the most out of my day as I feel really rewarded! I'd love to know what tips you use to get the most out of your days?
Lipstick truly is a girls best friend, and god knows how much I hoard this stuff. Matte, Satin, Liquid or gloss, take your pick - everyone has their favourites and their favourite brand. Now if you have been reading my blog for a while now; you will know that I am a big fan of Liquid Lipsticks - in particular the Kylie Lip Kits (read my recent review on the holiday collection here) but time after time I see bloggers and makeup lovers jump on the NYX bandwagon. So me, myself - the self confessed lipstick connoisseur (joking!) was absolutely delighted when I was gifted on of the NYX Lip Lingeries as part of my 21st birthday present from my sister (thank you Suze). The colour in question is Embellishment which NYX describe as a muted purple colour. | FORMULA | The NYX website claims that the Lingerie range are a weightless formula with a plush matte finish. I cannot stand a liquid lipstick that makes my lips dry so reading that made me instantly fall in love with it, before I had even applied. So once I had applied the lipstick, it seemed to glide onto my lips seemlessly and felt ultra soft, drying within an instance. Throughout the day it had a velvety feel to it that certainly felt weightless on my lips. Applying the lipstick without a lip pencil was also super easy thanks to the elongated doe foot applicator which gave a clean finish especially around the cupid's bow. | WEAR | The reason I love liquid lipsticks is that their staying power seem to be a lot better than your average lipstick and whilst my Kylie Lip Kits seem to last all day, I wondered whether these being a lot cheaper would have as much staying power. I wore this lipstick from 7am in the morning till 5pm in the evening and only needed to reapply once - and that was after my considerably large lunch. For only £7, the staying power of this lipstick actually amazed me. | COLOUR | As stated before; the shade "embellishment" is described as a muted purple shade and whilst I agree with this mostly - I do find that it has a taupe undertone to it and can look darker than you would expect. Despite this, I really love this shade as I swatched it next to my Kylie Dolce K and it is just little lighter than that; this is definitely a shade that I would reach for every day! Overall, I definitely will be purchasing more of the colours from this range as they are all gorgeous nude colours that are super wearable; whether it be day or night. Plus for £7 they are an absolute steal! Have you tried any of the NYX Lip Lingerie range, if so what's your favourite colour?
I'm going to be real with you in this blog post, accessorising is something that I seem to neglect on a day-to-day basis. I am always quick to focus directly on my outfit and then forget the little details that'll transform any look; so lately I have been thinking more about the little details that I can add to my looks. This has meant bags, to jewellery to scarfs - all of these accessories added to my outfits have made my day to day looks a little bit better. Day after day I pin posts that have some absolutely gorgeous accessorising in them so this is where I draw my inspiration from on a daily basis and have gathered some great little tips that'll up your accessories game. So if you are guilty of neglecting the accessorising, just like me - then this post is definitely for you! #1 Mix and Match I love to mix and match my rings. I love a bold statement ring that looks perfect alongside smaller rings. I wear three rings mostly everyday - all silver. But I love to accessories with midi rings along with this gorgeous statement jewelled ring from Lily and Rose. #2 Layer necklaces Now, this by no means is a new phenomenon but I still love doing this. My favourite thing to do right now is layer chokers - I've always been a big fan of the choker trend but I've moved away from the big thick velvet chokers to the small delicate and jewelled ones. #3 Change up your earrings Confession - I hardly ever change the pair of earrings I'm wearing. I seem to take them off at night and put the same pair back in without even thinking of all my other earrings. Changing from studs to drop earrings is a perfect way to change your outfit from day to night. #4 Accessories in unexpected ways I love a bandana, however any time I try to wear them in my hair or round my neck - they definitely do not suit me. However I love having them to accessorise my outfit with - so I tie mine to my handbag as they can make your handbag look gorgeous and really pull your outfit together.
I'd love to know how you guys accessorise your outfits, be sure to let me know in the comments?
